STUDIO ASSIGNMENTS (Mini Portfolio): Studio Projects for the elementary classroom
2B) understands major concepts, assumptions, debates, and principles; processes of inquiry; and theories that are central to the disciplines;
Description: The assignment is based on the principles of perspective. The assignment purposes the question, how can artists use purposeful perspective to make a visually compelling piece?
Rational: When approaching this piece, I thought about not just about the flat plane of perspective, but the visual closeness and distance that perspective makes. I want my students to be changed and grabble with ideas of perspective to make it engaging and endearing to the audience.
What can perspective say about your relation to your world?
When choosing this piece, I took gentle care on which items I choose. Students should be mindful on what objects they draw. I deliberately choose a set of object that would be found in my studio.
Evidence:
Description: The assignment is based on the principles of colour and the relation of colour next to each other. In addition to the idea of colour relation, colour relation must correlate to a visual narrative.
Rational: When approaching this piece, I started with a preliminary sketch to being my narrative for my story. The moment of time is based my personal experience with covid 19. I choose a chilling colour palate to represent my internal emotions during this experience. In contrast, I placed a higher pigmentation of oranges and reds to create this colour play. Students should be mindful on colour play on telling a narrative; hence, my rational decision for this colour palate.

ELEMENTARY LESSON PLAN 2K) engages students in the processes of critical thinking and inquiry and addresses standards of evidence of the disciplines; 3B) understands how to develop short- and long-range plans, including transition plans, consistent with curriculum goals, student diversity, and learning theory; 7B) understands that assessment is a means of evaluating how students learn and what they know and are able to do in order to meet the Illinois Learning Standards;
Description: This lesson plan was based on the ideas of observation and sensations.
Rational: Children do not get to go outside and visualize as often as I think they should. With the combination of nature studies and applying them with the 5 senses, I have created a lesson plan that children can use observational thought both cognitively and emotionally in their surroundings.
